Nanaimo, BC – Eleven multisport partners have joined forces to create the viaSport Regional Alliance, committed to working together and highlighting the importance of sport and physical activity as a tool for energizing communities and enhancing quality of life for British Columbians.
January 12, 2016 (Nanaimo): Operation Red Nose (ORN) Nanaimo concluded its 20th season, generating approximately $1 per kilometer driven. The 2015 season saw 232 volunteers drive 10,299 kms and provided a record 438 rides to 1300+ people over 9 nights. ORN Nanaimo also raised more than $10,700 for PacificSport Vancouver Island community and athlete programs.
Vancouver Island athletes from all sport disciplines are invited to apply for the Pacific Sport IGNITE Athlete Development Program. The IGNITE program is specifically geared for athletes ages 12 – 17, with training centres in Campbell River and Nanaimo. Both the North and Mid Island centres provide a platform for athletes who wish to take their athletic career to the next level. The deadline to apply is January 16th.

Jason Clare awarded Don Long Bursary
November 13, 2015 (Nanaimo): Operation Red Nose Nanaimo officially kicked off its 20th season at Nanaimo North Town Centre on Friday November 12, 2015. Volunteers and sponsors joined in the festivities where local athlete Jason Clare was awarded the Don Long Bursary for outstanding sport and community commitment.
IGNITE is a training program for aspiring athletes ages 12 – 17, ready to take their sport performance to the next level.
PacificSport have just launched a north island training centre in Campbell River introducing young athletes to a high performance lifestyle.
July 7, 2015 (Nanaimo): PacificSport Vancouver Island, Young Professionals of Nanaimo, and the BC Aboriginal Sport Recreation and Physical Activity Partners Council, together with the Nanaimo Foundation have teamed up, collectively raising $40,000 for an Aboriginal Sport Program in Nanaimo.
