By: Josh Aldrich, Nanaimo Daily News Published: Sunday, March 17, 2013 The Vancouver Island University Mariners ended a 19-year title drought on Saturday, beating the Holland Hurricanes 77-70 in the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association men's basketball championship final at John Abbott College in Montreal.
Christmas came early for the PacificSport office last week when the VIU tech support team arrived with five new computers for all the staff on March 14th. The purchase was made possible through a grant from the Nanaimo Community Foundation.

BC PROVINCIAL YOUTH ROAD CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIPS
June 8-9, 2013 | Courtenay, BC
The inaugural BC Provincial Youth Road Cycling Championships is specifically for youth aged 10 – 18. Race categories for boys and girls are U13, U15, U17, and U19, based upon age at December 31, 2013. The primary goal of this event is to support the growth and development of youth riders, thereby encouraging the growth of the sport of road cycling.

Call for Coaches & Sport Managers for Team BC for the 2014 North American Indigenous Games
The Aboriginal Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity Partners Council (Partners Council) is accepting applications for COACH and SPORT MANAGER volunteer positions to serve on Team BC for various sports for the 2014 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG). The 2014 NAIG will take place July 20-27, 2014 in Regina, Saskatchewan. Team BC will include approximately 500 athletes, coaches and mission staff participating in 13 sports. Serving as a Team BC coach for NAIG will be a once in a lifetime experience!
