Coach Eligibility

Canadian Sport Institute Pacific and PacificSport recognize that every athlete deserves the support of a qualified coach.  We work closely with national and provincial sport partners to ensure that coach eligibility and the related criteria is clear.  Find below the details of coach eligibility.

PacificSport Vancouver Island registers performance coaches who have met the criteria stated in the chart below:

NOTE:  Coaches must be the technical coaches in the sport and reside in the region of the PacificSport Centre. For exemptions to these criteria, please contact Athlete & Coach Services Coordinator Kevin Lindo and note that criteria are subject to change.

PacificSport Coach 

Option 1

1.  Coach must be nominated by their NSO/PSO and actively coaching a nominated targeted athlete AND

2. Coach must have NCCP accreditation in the old levels (minimum 3-4) or new NCCP Competition-Development context Trained (or equivalent). 

Option 2

1. Coach must be a currently enrolled ACD Coach or an ACD (NCI-BC) alumni who remains actively coaching or involved in mentoring/training other coaches.        

Option 3

1. Coach must be designated as an IPS coach and receving funding as a provincial or regional coach.

  Pathway Coach 


Pathway Coach level coaches are identified by PSO/NSO on Master Target Athlete List and are actively coaching targeted athlete(s) but do not meet eligibility requirements (i.e. NCCP qualifications). 

Check with your respective CSI Pacific Centre/ PacificSport Centre for available services

Services may be offered on a fee for service basis

Eligibility for coach carding in based on the following criteria:

  1. All coaches must designate a home centre in order to access grants and Centre specific services (coaches may not access grants and Centre specific services outside their home location)
  2. Must be a member and in good standing with their Provincial Sport Organization and Coaches BC
  3. Must participate in a Centre intake/annual review process (as per individual Centre requirements)
  4. Must be prepared to attain Professional Development credits (as per individual Centre requirements)

*The eligibility cycle is for 1 full year after which time you must re-qualify according to your sport criteria.
